          On November 18, the 2025 Greater Bay Area Science & Technology and Financial Innovation Development Conference took place in Nansha, Guangzhou. More than 200 representatives from government bodies, listed companies, financial institutions, and industry experts gathered to exchange insights on sci-tech innovation policies, financial support for technological progress, and the direction of the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan.


          During the conference’s parallel forum, the “14th Five-Year Plan Financial Innovation Excellent Cases Report” was officially released. The report spotlights standout fintech achievements that emerged during the 14th Five-Year Plan, offering practical references for how finance can better empower real-economy and sci-tech development. Among the featured cases, Zhiguang Energy Storage’s Cascaded High-Voltage Large-Capacity Energy Storage System was recognized as a leading example of technology-driven innovation.


          The system’s inclusion reflects strong validation of the company’s pursuit of innovation, its breakthroughs in key technical bottlenecks, and its solutions for enhancing the safety and stability of a renewable-energy-driven power system. It also showcases how homegrown innovation is driving the upgrade of advanced equipment manufacturing and accelerating the energy storage industry’s shift from policy-driven expansion to value-driven growth, fostering new momentum in the energy sector.


          Technological & Structural Innovation. Featuring high-voltage direct connection and a modular design, the system uses a cascaded topology that connects multiple battery clusters in series to reach 6–35 kV, increasing single-system capacity from 5 MW to 100 MW.

          Grid-Forming & Performance Innovation. With a pioneering self-synchronizing voltage source control technology, the system delivers autonomous inertia response and operates across wide short-circuit ratios. It can provide three times short-circuit current support within milliseconds, addressing grid stability challenges under high renewable penetration.

          Safety & Efficiency Innovation. Through multi-level stacking that reduces harmonics and removes the need for step-up transformers, the system cuts losses by 2%, eliminates circulating currents, and boosts long-term cycling efficiency to over 90%.


          As the energy storage industry shifts from rapid expansion to high-quality development, diversified financing models, business partnerships, and application scenarios are creating stronger foundations for industrialization and commercialization of the cascaded system—fostering a positive cycle of technological leadership, financial empowerment, and industrial upgrading.


          To date, the cascaded high-voltage system has been deployed in over twenty 100 MW-level projects across China, with installed capacity exceeding 10 GWh. By 2027, its share of the global new energy storage market is expected to surpass 25%, making it one of the mainstream solutions for generation-side and grid-side storage.

          Looking ahead, as electricity market reforms deepen and dual-carbon goals advance, technologies represented by the cascaded high-voltage energy storage system will play a greater role in safeguarding energy security and accelerating the green transition—contributing Chinese innovation and solutions to the global energy transformation.
